Autumn Alive 2012 | The Ferris State Torch

There were a?lot of fire?works and roy?alty at Ferris State?s annual fall music show, Autumn Alive, on Thursday.

Fireworks and We The Kings per?formed live in Wink Arena. Students and area com?mu?nity mem?bers lined up early to get front row seats for the show. Guests came dressed head to toe in cos?tumes, glow sticks, and We The Kings?gear.

Fireworks, a?pop-punk band, from Metro-Detroit, opened the show Thursday night.

?It was great per?form?ing for Ferris,? said Chris Mojan, gui?tarist for Fireworks. ?Everyone in the crowd was cool and every?one who ran the stage was?awesome.?

Followed by Fireworks there was a?cos?tume con?test on stage. Students were encour?aged to wear their Halloween cos?tumes and enter the cos?tume con?test, which was judged by Fireworks. The win?ners received tick?ets to Turn Up The Good, a?meet and greet with the bands, and a?gift cer?tifi?cate to Quinn?s Music.

After the cos?tume con?test, We The Kings had a?sur?prise for the audi?ence. The lights went low and ?Ball So Hard? by Jay-Z and Kanye West shook the roof while We The Kings ran on stage dressed in Halloween cos?tumes. They tran?si?tioned straight into their song ?She Takes Me High? which cre?ated a?mem?o?rable start to the?concert.

?We The Kings was the best part of the night,? said Tricia Schmiege, Ferris junior study?ing nuclear med?i?cine. ?I?ve seen them before and they were pretty good. I?had fun tonight; it was a?good concert.?

We The Kings had another sur?prise for the audi?ence Thursday night. They announced that they were film?ing Autumn Alive for the music video of their new sin?gle called ?Party, Fun, Love, &?Radio.?

Students, com?mu?nity mem?bers, and Music Industry Management stu?dents had a?great time at this year?s Autumn Alive. All of the hard work and plan?ning by MIMA made for an unfor?get?table?night.

?My favorite part was the cos?tumes and the jokes. We The Kings involved the crowd,? Allie Reber said, Ferris State senior in pro?fes?sional ten?nis man?age?ment. ?I loved their songs, espe?cially the last two. It was fun singing the along and I?liked the over?all?show.?

Alex Cooper, Ferris State senior study?ing hos?pi?tal?ity man?age?ment, also enjoyed the?concert.

?It was pretty good, I?def?i?nitely liked it,? Cooper said. ?Fireworks was awe?some. I?had fun; there was good music and it was a?good time.?

We The Kings wrapped up the show with a?grand finale. They per?formed a?cover of ?The Middle? by Jimmy Eat World and con?cluded with their hit ?Check Yes?Juliet.?

Autumn Alive couldn?t have hap?pened with?out the ded?i?ca?tion of the Music Industry Management stu?dents and their spon?sors. They put months into plan?ning this event and hours of hard work to make it suc?cess?ful. This event was spon?sored by the stu?dent activ?ity fees allo?cated by the Finance Division of Student Government, Entertainment Unlimited, Quinn?s Music, and Mr. Karl?s Hair?Salon.

Meet and Greets with fans took place before and after the show, with an ice skat?ing ses?sion after the show for the bands and selected fans.
